Margaret Rhea Howell is a member of the South Carolina Bar and Florida Bar, admitted to practice in both states. She is also a member of the Hilton Head Island Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Margaret concentrates her practice in estate planning and probate matters with an emphasis in Elder Law.
Margaret was born in Beaufort County, South Carolina in 1982.She is a 2000 graduate of Hilton Head Preparatory School.
She attended SouthernMethodistUniversity in Dallas, Texas and is also a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Journalism, where she wason the President's List and the Dean's list. Margaret graduated from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2008 and passed both theFlorida and South Carolina Bar Exams on her first attempt.
She has continued her legal education with various continuing legal educations seminars and workshops including attendance at the two day, 31st Annual Duke University Estate Planning Conference in Durham, North Carolina sponsored by the Duke University Law School, the 17th Annual Bar Bench Seminar for probate judges and attorneys sponsored by the South Carolina Bar, an ethics seminar sponsored by the Hilton Head Island Bar Association, a seminar titled Retirement Benefits & Estate Planning - What's New?, sponsored by the Cannon Trust School, a two day Elder Law Certification Review Course in Orlando, Florida sponsored by the Florida Bar, a two day seminar titled Advanced Planning Seminar - Estate and Business Planning in Orlando, Floridasponsored by Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, a seminar titled The Changing World of Estate Planning in Tampa, Florida sponsored by the Florida Bar and a seminar, titled Basic Commercial Litigation in Orlando, Florida sponsored by the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division.
Margaret has also completed a special advanced course sponsored by the American Bar Association held at the New York Law School in New York City called "Skills Training for Estate Planning Attorneys." It is an intensive 6 day course in estate planning for attorneys who want to focus their practice in estate planning.
Margaret has also worked with the Young Lawyers Division of the South Carolina Bar on their Wills for First Responders Program.The program provides Wills and certain other basic estate planning documents to firefighters, EMTs, police officers, and deputy sheriffs, at no charge. Margaret is a former member of the Hilton Head Dance Theatre, where she studied classical ballet under the former Principal Ballerina for the America Ballet Theatre, Karena Brock-Carlyle, and John Carlyle.
Margaret's middle name is pronounced "Ray" and is like "Shea", but with an "R".
